PR AUDIT
A CLEAR READ ON WHERE YOUR VISIBILITY STANDS.
A senior, independent review of your messaging, coverage and media presence — and what to do next.

What This Is
A PR audit is a structured review of how your organisation currently shows up: the story you are telling, the coverage you have earned, the outlets and journalists who already know you, and the gaps between the reputation you have and the one you need.
I look at your messaging and positioning, your existing press coverage and search visibility, your spokespeople and the assets behind them, and how you compare with the names you are measured against in the UK, US, Canada and ANZ.
You receive a written assessment with prioritised recommendations: what to fix first, what to build next, and what is not worth your time or budget yet. It is honest rather than flattering, because that is the only version worth paying for.
Who I Work With
Founders, marketing leaders and purpose-led organisations who have been doing PR for a while and suspect it is not working, or who are about to invest properly and want to start from evidence rather than instinct.
How I Work
Every audit begins with a conversation about the outcome you need, not a template. From there I review your material independently, then talk to you about what I have found before anything is written up.
The output usually points somewhere specific: a sharper narrative to take into earned media, preparation for spokespeople through media training, or a defined campaign through campaigns and brand activations.
If the audit shows the priority is direction rather than execution, a strategy session is often the natural next step. You can also see how this thinking plays out in practice across my work.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does a PR audit take?
- Most audits run over two to three weeks, depending on how much existing material there is to review and how quickly spokespeople are available to talk.
- What do I actually receive?
- A written assessment covering messaging, coverage, search and media visibility, plus a prioritised list of recommendations and a suggested order of work.
- Do I need an audit before starting PR?
- Not always. If you are starting from nothing, a strategy session is usually more useful. An audit is most valuable when there is existing activity to assess.
- Will you tell me if PR is not the right investment yet?
- Yes. Starting too early wastes money telling a story the market is not ready to hear, and I would rather say so than take the work.
- Can the audit lead into ongoing work?
- Often, but there is no obligation. Many clients take the recommendations and act on them internally, and some come back later for ad-hoc support.
- Do you audit organisations outside the UK?
- Yes. I work across the UK, US, Canada and ANZ, and the audit accounts for the media landscape in each market you care about.
