FUNDING ROUND PR

A RAISE IS NOT A STORY UNTIL YOU MAKE IT ONE.

What This Is

A funding round on its own is not news to most journalists. What earns coverage is the story around it: what the money is for, what it says about the market, and why it matters to anyone outside your cap table.

The work covers narrative development, spokesperson preparation, embargoed media planning, and the sequencing of announcements so the raise lands with the right outlets on the right day.

It also looks past announcement day. A raise creates a short window of attention, and the value comes from what you build with it over the following months.

Who I Work With

Founders and scale-ups preparing to raise, often several months before the round closes, and teams who have just closed and want the announcement to do more than sit in a press release.

How I Work

Support often begins well before the round is finalised: aligning the business narrative with market context, testing where the story is genuinely interesting, and preparing spokespeople through media training.

Around the announcement I handle the media plan directly — briefings, embargoes, exclusives where they help — and follow it with sustained earned media so visibility does not collapse the week after.

If the narrative is still unsettled, a strategy session beforehand saves considerable time later. Examples of how these moments play out are on the work page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far ahead should we start?
Six to eight weeks before announcement is comfortable. Earlier is better if the narrative or the spokespeople still need work.
Will you guarantee coverage?
No, and nobody credible will. What I can do is make sure the story is genuinely worth a journalist's time and reaches the right ones.
Do you handle exclusives and embargoes?
Yes. Deciding whether to run an exclusive or a broad embargo is one of the more consequential calls in a raise, and it is made case by case.
What about pre-launch companies?
Support frequently begins before a company has publicly launched, particularly around a first institutional round.
Can you work alongside our investors' comms teams?
Yes, and coordinating those timelines early avoids most of the problems that surface on announcement day.
What happens after the announcement?
The most valuable phase. Ongoing earned media or ad-hoc support keeps the momentum from evaporating.
