SENIOR CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT
Executive preparation and messaging — before an issue breaks, while it's unfolding, and once it's over.

What This Is
Crisis communications is executive preparation and messaging, before an issue breaks, while it's unfolding, and once it's over. I work directly with businesses and their leadership to build the response before it's needed.
The situations vary widely: a product recall, a leadership departure, an employee issue that's become public, a data or security incident, or the sense that a story is coming with no plan in place.
The starting point is always understanding exactly what's happened or at risk, and building the messaging around that reality.
Who I Work With
Founders, leadership teams, spokespeople and organisations of any size, from a single-person business needing direct access throughout, to larger teams where I work alongside legal counsel and senior leadership. Support spans the UK, US, Canada and ANZ.
How I Work
A crisis engagement starts one of two ways, a chemistry call before anything's gone wrong to build a plan in advance, or an urgent call once something already has.
I get briefed quickly, work through who needs to hear what and how fast, then build the messaging, what you say, what you don't say yet, and who says it. Statements and holding lines get drafted and tested, and outreach and follow-up are handled directly by me.
Once the moment passes, I report back on what ran and how it was covered, with a debrief on what to put in place for next time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a crisis communications consultant actually do?
I prepare the messaging and the people who deliver it: agreeing the position, drafting statements and holding lines, briefing spokespeople, and handling journalist contact while the story is live.
When should a company bring one in?
Ideally before anything has gone wrong, so a plan already exists. In practice, many engagements start with an urgent call, and that's fine too, the first priority is agreeing a position quickly.
What's the difference between crisis communications and crisis management?
Crisis management is the operational response, fixing the underlying problem. Crisis communications is what's said about it, to whom, in what order. They run in parallel.
Can you help if something's already gone public?
Yes. I get briefed fast, work out who needs to hear what and how quickly, then draft and test the messaging before anything goes out.
Do you offer ongoing crisis planning?
Yes. Some clients keep a standing arrangement so there's no delay when something happens; others do a one-off preparation project and revisit it annually.
Do you work alongside legal teams during a crisis?
Frequently. Legal advice and communications advice have to be aligned, and the strongest responses are built with both in the room.
